Madam Pele is a stunning loose double or crested single, hybridized before 1950 probably on the island of Hawai'i.  Her 5-7" blossoms positively glow with beauty - perhaps a reflexion of the glowing lava eruptions at Halema'uma'u, said to be the home of Hawai'i's goddess Pele.
