ELSIE WILCOX was hybridized on Kauaʻi in the early 1900s by Mrs. Grace Rice. It is said to be a cross between Rice White (today known as H. Waimea) and H. saintjohnianus. This 2-3” hibiscus is a soft orange, and her leaves are green or rust colored - really lovely and unusual. Elsie Wilcox was the first woman elected to the Hawaiʻi Territorial Senate in 1932.
